Begüm Gökmen

Begüm Gökmen started Horn Education at Bilkent University Music and
Stage Faculty of Arts where she graduated from Prof.Mahir Çakar's class with
a high honor degree.

She joined Horn Symposium held in Cloppenburg, Germany.She having passed
the exams of The International Youth Symphony Orchestra held in Bayreuth,
Germany in 1997 and she performed in this orchestra three times in a row and
played on a scholarship and had the chance to work with Christian Lampert.

She played at the same time in the Idyllwild Festival Orchestra in America with
the scholarship Larry Livingston provided, Dean and Conductor of the University
of California Department of Music.

She participated in many workshops and youth orchestra camps abroad.
She completed her undergraduate education at Mimar Sinan State Conservatory
with Cem Köse and she completed proficiency in art again with Pianist Selen Bucak
at State Conservatory and had the title of Associate Professor in 2018.

She took part in orchestras such as Akbank Chamber, Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony,
Istanbul Philharmonic, Tekfen Philharmonic, National Reassurance and Borusan
Philharmonic,

in 2004, She founded Golden Horn Brass, first long-running brass band of Turkey,
and continued the concerts as a founding member of this group. In 2008 She was
selected by Sonus Brass and took part in concerts in 5 cities of Austria.

Begüm Gökmen has been at the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory
since 2004. In addition, she is found in primary schools and in various cities
of Anatolia to promote Brass Instruments and She organizes concerts
and workshops.

The YEO holds annual auditions in all 8 member countries in order to select the finest Europe orchestral musicians between the ages of 18 and 30.
